Ørsted trials cargo drones at offshore wind farms

Ørsted, together with its UK-based drone partner Skylift, is using FlyingBasket cargo drones to deliver safety evacuation equipment to turbines. Each drone can transport boxes weighing up to 70kg from a vessel to the nacelle, more than 100 metres above sea level.
Cadeler signs contract with Synera Renewable Energy for Formosa 4 offshore wind farm

Cadeler has signed a firm contract with Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) for the transportation and installation of 35 Siemens Gamesa 14MW wind turbines at the Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan. The work will be carried out by one of Cadeler’s new M-class installation vessels.

RWE and Siemens Gamesa install recyclable blades at UK offshore wind farm

RWE, in partnership with Siemens Gamesa, has begun installing the first large-scale recyclable rotor blades at a UK offshore wind farm. The blades use a new type of resin that allows the materials to be separated and recycled at the end of their operational life, potentially for use in products such as vehicle components, bicycle helmets and suitcases.

USDA changes funding rules for renewable energy projects on farmland

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced new restrictions on how its programmes will support renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on farmland use. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins stated that USDA will no longer fund solar projects on prime farmland or allow USDA-funded projects to use solar panels manufactured in countries identified as foreign adversaries.

US Commerce Department expands steel and aluminium tariffs to cover wind turbines

The U.S. Department of Commerce has expanded its steel and aluminium tariffs to include 407 additional product categories. Under the revised rules, the steel and aluminium content of these products will be subject to a 50% tariff, while other material content will be charged at the applicable country-specific rate under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
