UK Government outlines new Industrial Strategy with focus on clean energy and manufacturing

The UK Government has released its updated Industrial Strategy, setting out a 10-year framework to boost business investment, job creation and productivity. Alongside the strategy, a Clean Energy Industries Sector Plan has been published to grow investment and employment in clean energy-related sectors.
Worley Rosenberg selected for offshore substation at Sørlige Nordsjø II wind farm

Ventyr has named Worley Rosenberg as Preferred Contractor for the offshore substation at the Sørlige Nordsjø II wind farm in Norway. The agreement includes early design and engineering work, set to begin in June, with a planned transition to the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) phase in December 2025.
LiftOff introduces new vessel for offshore wind turbine component exchange

LiftOff has introduced a new Major Component Exchange Vessel (MCEV) designed to support offshore wind turbine maintenance. The vessel combines LiftOff’s up-tower crane technology with the capabilities of modern dynamically positioned (DP) vessels and specialist mission equipment.

This initiative focuses on expanding supply chain capacity, manufacturing, and port infrastructure to accelerate the growth of offshore wind.
Fugro to deliver site investigations for RWE and TotalEnergies wind farms in German North Sea

Fugro has been contracted to carry out geophysical and geotechnical site investigations for the Windbostel Ost and Windbostel West offshore wind farms, a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies. Located in the German North Sea, the two sites have a combined planned capacity of 4GW.
Equinor secures floating offshore wind lease in UK Celtic Sea

Equinor has been awarded seabed rights for a floating offshore wind project off the coasts of South Wales and South West England. In the UK’s Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5, run by The Crown Estate, Equinor secured one development area with a potential capacity of up to 1.5GW.

Siemens completes listing of energy business in India

Siemens has completed the listing of its energy business in India under the name Siemens Energy India Limited on both BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India. The demerger establishes two independent companies: Siemens Limited India and Siemens Energy India Limited, each with a distinct focus on core activities, strategy and capital allocation.
Recycling challenges for carbon fibre in wind turbine blades

Today, 80 to 90 percent of a wind turbine’s materials can be fully recycled at the end of its operational life—a rate significantly higher than in many other sectors. However, the German wind energy associations BWE and LEE are calling for clearer rules to improve circular use of certain valuable materials. A proposal under discussion in the Brandenburg state parliament, submitted by the AfD party, is criticised by the industry as misleading. The proposal suggests chemical recycling methods such as pyrolysis and solvolysis, but these are energy-intensive and not economically viable for wind turbine blades.
HVAC construction starts for Princess Elisabeth offshore energy hub

Construction of the high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) infrastructure for Belgium’s Princess Elisabeth offshore energy hub has officially begun, marked by a steel-cutting ceremony at the HSM Offshore Energy yard in Schiedam, Netherlands. The HVAC modules—including high-voltage substations and a facility module—will be installed directly on the artificial island, located 45 km off the Belgian coast.
