A report by Climate Power states that household electricity bills in the USA have increased by around 10% since the start of the Trump administration and are expected to rise further. The group attributes these increases to recent federal budget decisions and changes to renewable energy tax credits, which it says have negatively affected clean energy development.
According to the report, more than 64,000 jobs have been lost or delayed in the clean energy sector since 2025. It estimates that reductions in clean energy deployment could increase average household energy costs by about $130 annually by 2030 and $170 annually by 2035, with higher impacts projected in some states.
The report also points to cancellations and delays of planned renewable projects, totalling nearly 13,939 MW of generation capacity. This figure represents enough energy to power an estimated 8.4 million homes. The wind sector is cited as having experienced the highest level of job losses during this period.
