The U.S. Department of Commerce has expanded its steel and aluminium tariffs to include 407 additional product categories. Under the revised rules, the steel and aluminium content of these products will be subject to a 50% tariff, while other material content will be charged at the applicable country-specific rate under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
Products added include wind turbines and their components, mobile cranes, bulldozers, railcars, furniture, compressors, pumps and a wide range of other industrial and consumer goods. The expansion took effect immediately following its publication in the Federal Register.
