DTBird has released a revised edition of the technical specifications for its DTBat system, designed to detect, identify and protect bats at wind farms. The updated version replaces the 2016 edition and includes several technical, operational and installation improvements. The new document is available in both English and Spanish.

Since its commercial launch in 2012, more than 40 DTBat systems have been installed in various countries. The system integrates ultrasound detectors with multiple microphones, autonomous recording, real-time detection, and activity-based curtailment. It is compatible with SCADA systems and features a modular design for flexible deployment across different turbine types.

Key updates include:

  • Automatic species identification
  • Elimination of shutdown false positives
  • Offshore-grade robust hardware
  • Remote and automated microphone testing
  • New microphone housing for metal and concrete towers
  • NEST online platform with expanded statistics
  • Playback and visualisation of bat calls in .wav format
