LiftOff has introduced a new Major Component Exchange Vessel (MCEV) designed to support offshore wind turbine maintenance. The vessel combines LiftOff’s up-tower crane technology with the capabilities of modern dynamically positioned (DP) vessels and specialist mission equipment.
The MCEV is purpose-built to transport and exchange large turbine components, such as generators and gearboxes. Based on a conventional DP2 vessel, it is equipped with a custom up-tower crane featuring nacelle-mounted winches. The aft deck includes a motion-compensated platform to carry crane equipment and major components, while a walk-to-work system ensures safe transfer of personnel and smaller parts. The vessel does not require seabed contact. Its DP2 system enables accurate station-keeping during operations.
