Cerulean Winds has submitted offshore consent applications for its Aspen floating wind development to the Scottish Government. The 1 GW project is located about 100 kilometres offshore in the Central North Sea and is targeting first power before 2030.
The applications were lodged with the Marine Directorate Licensing Operations Team and are supported by an Environmental Impact Assessment. The assessment outlines potential impacts on the marine and coastal environment, wildlife, and other sea users, and sets out measures to avoid or minimise effects. The documents are now available for public review.
Aspen is being developed by a consortium including NOV, Siemens Energy, Bilfinger, and Ocean Installer. Haventus’ Ardersier Energy Transition Facility near Inverness will serve as the project’s strategic hub.
