Fugro has been contracted to carry out geophysical and geotechnical site investigations for the Windbostel Ost and Windbostel West offshore wind farms, a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies. Located in the German North Sea, the two sites have a combined planned capacity of 4GW.
Fugro will collect Geo-data on seabed and subsurface conditions northwest of the island of Borkum. Geophysical surveys will map the seabed and shallow subsurface layers, identifying potential hazards and informing early-stage design. Geotechnical investigations will involve in situ testing and sampling to assess soil composition and characteristics. The data will support foundation design, structural analysis, cable routing, and risk assessment during construction and operation.
