TGS has started its first offshore wind and meteorological and oceanographic measurement campaign in Australia, commissioned by High Sea Wind, an Ocean Winds project. The one-year deployment will take place in the Gippsland region of Victoria, one of Australia’s designated offshore wind development zones.
The campaign will collect wind, wave, current and environmental data in water depths of around 60 metres. The dataset will support turbine selection, wind farm layout optimisation, foundation design, environmental studies and grid connection planning. Data will be collected using an Eolos floating light detection and ranging buoy equipped with integrated oceanographic and environmental sensors. Measurements will be quality controlled and delivered on a daily basis through Wind Axiom, the TGS site evaluation and analytics platform. The campaign is dedicated exclusively to the High Sea Wind project developed by Ocean Winds.
