Vestas has announced that all turbines have now been installed at the Hibikinada Offshore Wind Farm, Japan’s largest offshore wind project with a total capacity of 220 MW. The wind farm consists of 25 V174-9.6 MW turbines.
Hibiki Wind Energy, the project partner, is expected to begin operating the wind farm within Japan’s fiscal year 2025. Commissioning will take place ahead of inauguration and the start of a long-term service agreement.
The project adds to the growing portfolio of offshore developments in the Asia Pacific region. Looking ahead, preparations are under way for upcoming offshore wind auctions, and the first installation of the V236-15.0 MW turbine in Japan is scheduled for 2027.
