Buss Terminal Eemshaven has completed its work on the Thor and Nordseecluster A (NSC A) offshore wind projects, which were processed in parallel at the terminal. The wind farms, located north of Germany and west of Denmark, are jointly owned by RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management, with RWE responsible for construction and operations.
The terminal handled 45 monopiles with secondary steel for NSC A and 72 monopiles for Thor. Each unit weighed more than 1,500 tonnes and reached lengths of up to 96 metres. In total, 325 monopile transports were completed, moving more than 500 million kilograms.
Buss used its own equipment for secondary steel handling, supported by dune sets and concrete blocks for storage. Mammoet carried out load-ins and transports using self-propelled modular transporters from Buss Ports and Mammoet, assisted by hydraulic saddles designed for safe monopile movement.
Offshore installation was undertaken by two vessels: Les Alizés for Thor and Boreas for NSC A, with Aeolus installing secondary steel for the NSC A project.
