A public consultation has been launched on 22 October for the proposed electricity transmission infrastructure to connect the Morven Offshore Wind Farm to the national grid at the Hawthorn Pit substation near Seaham. The consultation, which will run until 30 November, invites feedback from local residents and stakeholders on the Morven Hawthorn Pit Grid Connection Project.
If approved, the infrastructure will transmit electricity generated by the Morven Offshore Wind Farm, located around 60 kilometres off the Aberdeenshire coast. The proposals cover offshore electricity cables in English waters, underground onshore cables near Seaham, and the construction of a substation close to Hawthorn Pit.
Morven Offshore Wind Farm is being developed by Morven Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW) and JERA Nex bp. The consultation provides an opportunity for the public to help inform the design and development of the grid connection project.
